Susan "Susie" Wallace-Wyant is our Chief of Operations for Washington Ambulance. Previous to becoming Chief, Susie held the positions of Secretary, Training Officer and Assistant Chief for 6 years. She has been an EMT since 1995, and returned to school to become an EMT-Intermediate and finally an EMT-Paramedic. Susie received her Paramedic license from the National Registry of EMTs and the University of Connecticut. Presently, she is an Emergency Services Instructor, having taught more than 15 EMT-basic classes and EMT/MRT recertification classes. She is also an EMT examiner for the State of CT and devotes many hours for written and practical examinations. Susie is truly dedicated to EMS and to being a patient advocate. Outside of EMS, Susie married to Butch Wyant (MRT 65) who is also a member of Washington Ambulance. She has been a flight attendant for American Airlines for 38 years and is the Director of the Flight Attendant Peer Support Program for the American Airlines. She helps her fellow flight attendants cope with critical incidents and the subsequent stress-related problems. Susie is also an interventionist, dealing with the drug and alcohol problems within our flight attendant corps. She has a degree in psycology from Pace University (1983) and headed up American Airlines' Employee Assistance program as well as being the National Health Coordinator for the Flight Attendents Union. Susie's true calling is Emergency Medical Services and she is constantly looking for ways to educate herself and explore new techniques. |
